NHS 70th Anniversary and 2018 Annual Lecture

In July 2018, the Bevan Society marked the 70th anniversary of the National Health Service with a special reception at Speaker’s House in Westminster.

Members from across both Houses of Parliament as well as healthcare professionals, representatives from charitable organisations, journalists and members of the public celebrated the event with speeches and a presentation of a miner’s lamp from Tredegar to Mr. Speaker, John Bercow, by Nygaire Bevan, Nye’s great niece.

Nick Thomas Symonds, MP for Torfaen, delivered the 2018 annual Aneurin Bevan memorial lecture and Tredegar Brass Band debuted a specially commissioned piece of music about the NHS.
